The St Hugh’s Foundation for the Arts invites applications for its 2018 Arts Awards
This year, the St Hugh’s Foundation for the Arts is pleased to announce three new funding streams for its Arts Awards Programme, including the Claire Frances Peasnall Memorial Fund, aimed specifically at painters who are seeking funding to enable them to travel.
This new Award of up to £1,000 is awarded in memory of previous Award recipient Claire Peasnall, who was supported by the Foundation in 2000 to visit the Huntington Desert Garden in San Marino, California, a research trip that substantially extended her practice, enabling her to create work that contributed to her first solo exhibition in Gainsborough in 2001.
The St Hugh’s Foundation for the Arts will also be awarding a Development Award (£3-5,000) and Main Award (£10-12,000) in 2018 to support artistic projects in our area of benefit (the City of Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire (including North and North East Lincolnshire)). Our next deadline for first stage applications for the Arts Awards will be the 23rd February 2018.
To apply: visit the Awards section of our website here: http://www.sthughsfoundation.co.uk/awards. Our challenge to applicants is to present their idea to us as a 100 word pitch, a process that we hope will encourage people to hone in on their key ideas.
Chair of the St Hugh’s Foundation for the Arts Katie Green says, “In 2017 we received applications from many talented artists, and our winners Rich Wiles and Emma and Giuseppe Belli are a clear testament to the quality of work taking place in our area of benefit. We now look forward to new and exciting applications in 2018, including applications for the Claire Frances Peasnall Memorial Award. We are hugely grateful to Claire’s family for their generous donation that has made it possible to establish this fund in memory of one of our previous Award recipients.”
Potential applicants are advised to read the full application guidelines in detail, which are available on the Awards section of our website here: http://www.sthughsfoundation.co.uk/awards
