2026 Anniversary Award winner announced
Madara Vimba receives St Hugh's 35th Anniversary award
The award offers Madara the opportunity to realise her ambition to explore Lincolnshire's agricultural landscape through migration, labour and movement, with particular focus on those whose contribution to agriculture can remain unseen. As a Latvian artist working in the UK, questions of belonging, representation and cultural identity are central to Madara's practice. Through extensive research and development of her ideas over the coming year, she aims to create and present a large scale publicly shown textile sculpture alongside multimedia representation of the voices and footage gathered from across Lincolnshire.
In thanking St Hugh's Madara says "This project will be pivotal to my development as a Lincolnshire based artist, pushing me beyond the familiar through more impactful scale, research and public reach".
