St Hugh’s Foundation for the Arts invites applications for 2020 Arts Awards
The St Hugh’s Foundation for the Arts is pleased to announce that the application process for its 2020 Arts Awards Programme is now open.
Artists and arts organisations in the City of Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire (including North and North East Lincolnshire) are encouraged to apply for the:
- Development Award - £3-5,000 for testing something in its very early stages, or contributing to the development of artistic practice
- Main Award - up to £10,000 for a larger project that is further along in its development.
The St Hugh’s Foundation of the Arts will also be offering an Award of up to £1,000 in memory of previous recipient Claire Peasnall. This Award aims to support artists working mainly as painters, or with drawing, to travel outside the Foundation’s area of benefit in order to create work or develop their practice. The Award has been made possible thanks to a generous donation from Claire’s family.
Our next deadline for first stage applications for all Arts Awards strands will be 5pm on the 28th February 2020.
To apply: visit the Awards section of the St Hugh’s Foundation website here: www.sthughsfoundation.co.uk/awards.
Applicants to the Claire Frances Peasnall Memorial Fund will find details of a separate application process online here: www.sthughsfoundation.co.uk/assets/downloads/ClairePeasnallApplicationForm_FINAL2020.docx
Chair of the St Hugh’s Foundation for the Arts, Katie Green says, “In 2020 we’re challenging artists to follow in the footsteps of last year’s winners Lee Karen Stow (Main Award), Tanya Akrofi (Development Award), and our first Claire Frances Peasnall Award recipient, Charlene Clempson, whose recent work at the Red Gate Gallery in Beijing was made possible with the Foundation’s support. We’d love to hear from more artists about what they think is most important about the work they want to do, and why they want to do it now.”
Potential applicants are advised to read the full application guidelines in detail, which are available on the Awards section of our website here: www.sthughsfoundation.co.uk/awards.
