Quentin Budworth - Artists Respond Recipient 2020
Musician and lens-based artist Quentin Budworth used Artists Respond funding from the St Hugh's Foundation for the Arts to work on a new site-responsive sound art experiment in Bridlington and an accompanying video. Read on for a link to Quentin's final film.
From Quentin Budworth:
I'd like to say a big thankyou to the Trustees of the St Hugh's Foundation for supporting me in this experimental endeavour. The site specific score and the film are one outcome but the learning journey and, for me, the skills that I have developed as a result of embarking on this self-directed project are really where the value lies for me as an artist.

The translation of the morse code message reads as follows:
“SOS Help we are adrift on the edge of Europe on Brexit Plague Island with an incompetent narcissistic sociopath in charge. I fear for the lives and welfare of our people. Lying and corruption are the new normal We are living in a country hell bent on self-destruction. We have lost our rights as EU Citizens and have become subjects of a rogue state ignoring International laws in the pursuit of easy trade deals. They are going against scientific advice and messing with the vaccines. Too many of our people have died. The disaster capitalists are sharpening their knives please send help.”
